Be Intentional Week 4: Every Monday Matters - Setting goals

You often hear,
'Be bold.  Take a leap!'
Sometimes you should.
Other times,
there's a better idea.

Take a step.

Harry Beckwith

It is Monday...the day that we focus on being intentional to make this Monday matter...and to recharge our batteries for the week. ( Every Monday Matters and Charging the Human Battery)

As I have blogged before, sometimes looking at the bigness of a project is overwhelming and we have learned that breaking the big desired goal into manageable pieces makes it easier to achieve.  We have seen how doing one task on a regular basis - like daily - gets things done and dreams become achievements.  Are you in this habit yet?

For as many years as we have lived on this farm, I wanted to make it my home and my work and it remained a dream with many false starts...but, thanks to this blog, I'm doing something every single day to get there...not that 'there' will ever be completely finished but I am so enjoying the journey.

By sitting down and writing of my experiences, I find I am getting more ideas than I ever had before!  The habit of sharing with you drives me to learn more and do more and achieve more.  Thank you, everyone, for the encouragement.

I like this quote:
We first make our habits,
and then our habits make us.

John Dryden

What habits are you cultivating?  I would love to see your comments....

The task from Every Monday Matters this week is prepare for an Emergency.  One habit I have cultivated this year is to add to our emergency preparedness every week.  Survival Mom: 5 dollar preps has a good list outlining food supplies, equipment and over the counter medications you can start putting on your shopping list every week.  Can you find $5 a week to start preparing?  When I started doing more things for myself at home - like making my morning coffee or our weekly pizza dinner - I found at least $5 a week.  Perhaps $5 is out of reach - but how about $2.50?  Or start saving all of your change and use that to start preparing.

Once you do this several weeks in a row, you will have a new HABIT!  It is that easy!!!

I hope you are preparing - and it doesn't have to be preparing for the zombie apocalypse or the end of the world...it can be preparing for being snowed in, or a hurricane or the car needs a new something-or-other and we need to eat from the pantry this week instead of going to the grocery.

You will be amazed at the level of peace you will have in preparing for an unknown emergency - we don't know when it will happen or what it will be but certainly and without a doubt, something unexpected will happen to us....and I'm getting prepared, a $5 habit at a time.

Tuesday's focus is always on the animals around the farm, tomorrow I will teach you some of the health aspects of products from our bees....there is a lot more than honey to be thankful for.  :)  Hope to see you then.

Peace be with you,

Star Schipp
